Rating
I find this product very well designed. I am very pleased with the detail and the clarity of the tank. I was hoping nevertheless that I would be able to place the top over a filter that I have placed on the top of the tank. However, this was not a part of the original design so I am not complaining.
Otherwise, a very good product

this is a good aquarium I like the round shape the small size and that it is only 8 gallons much easier and cheaper to take care of then aquariums that are 25 gallons plus only thing I really did not like was the filter I needed to buy a internal filter not a big deal since most small internal filters don't cost that much

Rating
I got this tank with a betta in mind, and it works perfectly for that purpose. I have no complaints at all about the tank itself--but I do want to give some warnings. A goldfish needs more along the lines of 10 gallons per fish, not 2.65. A betta however will be just fine in this tank. The problem with most fish kits is that they are never big enough for the fish they're made for. Goldfish also need way more filtration, and I will warn you that the filter that comes with this kit is pretty much useless. However, anyone looking for a good, simple betta tank should do absolutely great with this one. Although I haven't tried it myself, the 1.77 gallon variety of this tank would probably be fine too. I'd also recommend getting your own gravel and plant, the gravel is far too cheap and rough, and the silk plant had strings coming off of it that would either float to the top or come dangerously close to getting tangled onto my fish.

This review seems incredibly negative, but believe me, I love the tank and it deserves the four stars--it's just the premise of the kit and the bundled accessories that aren't worth your time. I like it far better than any other similar plastic tanks, and betta kits are the smallest pieces of junk ever. With a little extra effort, you will have no problems keeping a smaller individual fish in this tank. Just please don't try to cram a goldfish into this thing.

Rating
This kit is horribly inadequate and does not even come close to living up to its claim of being everything you need for your crab. The enclosure is far too small with vents which will allow precious moisture to escape.

The amount of sand they offer is not likely to be deep enough for even the smallest of micros to bury themselves completely, a requirement in order to make sure your crab has a way to relieve stress as well as be able to molt and grow.

They don't even list all they provide so I can't dispute much else but it doesn't appear that there are two water dishes, one for clear decholorinated water and another for brackish.

There doesn't appear to be any kind of hidey hole, either. Nowhere to get away to if your little guy is skittish.

I could go on and on, I suppose but it all comes down to the simple fact that this is not suitable as a home. Perhaps as a travel enclosure your crab but little more.

Hermit crabs come from a tropical environment, and need heat and humidity to breathe. The small wire cages you get at a kiosk or the Kritter Keepers you get from petsmart won't hold in the necessary humidity. And, hermit crabs, when kept in the proper conditions, are VERY active, they need room to climb, dig, and roam. Hermit crabs molt. They need deep, moist substrate (play sand will do just fine, [...]. If they hold off a molt for too long it is lethal. This is why many owners only have crabs living for a year or less, while those who give theri crabs proper conditions and allow them to molt often have crabs that live 30+ years!! Fresh foods such as fruit and vegetables are also far superior to any commercial foods. NO painted shells! [...]

Its pretty and looks great but the filter is too strong for the fish to swim in. What use is a filter if its going to wear out the poor fish?
Waste of money and time.

This was a great treat for our daughter (3) and a perfect way to establish responsibility with a pet. We found the filter provided to be inadequate to keep the water clean of daily feedings but simply corrected with a slightly more powerful filter. The tank requires cleaning about every 3-4 weeks, is quiet and a perfect addition to her room. The fish have been enjoying the tank for almost a year now and thriving (6 zebra danio's). If you can handle the additional responsibility as a parent of owning a pet, this is a great intro to pet love, caring and responsibility!

I bought the 1.77 gallon, purple one today at a petstore for $19.99 and thought that my white & purple betta would look great in it. However, after I set it up and put Indie in it, I could hardly see him - the lid makes the tank too dark to see the natural colors of any fish that is in there. He looked all black or dark purple. I even put my desk lamp to shine over the top, but it was still too dark with the lid on; what more without any lighting at all? He looks much prettier when I lifted the cover for the light to shine in, but the lid seems to pop off from the hinges too easily, and I feel as if one day it will just slide off when I lift it for feedings and crack when it hits the floor. The gravel is a bright blue with the light on, and detracts from the beauty of the fish itself. The filter is quiet; you can hardly hear the hum. However, on the lowest setting, it is still a little too strong for a betta. I put it on the right rear corner of the tank, and placed the 'included' plant in front of it to slow down the current, but Indie seems to only swim around the left half of the tank. Overall, even though it's a reasonable price for a tank that comes with gravel, filter and a fake plant, I think it looks cheap. It looks nice on the box and there were good reviews on the store's website - that's why I bought it. If I had wanted one of those cheap plastic starter tanks, I could have gotten one for $8 or less. I will probably return it to the store and get something else.

This tank looks great. We purchased one of the 1.77 gal tanks for our son along with a male Beta. The only problem with it is that the filter is too strong for the size of the tank. When we placed the fish in the tank he freaked out and couldn't stop swimming around because the current was too strong. We had to pull the filter out and now we have to change out the water once a week. It's more work than we wanted for ourselves and our 6 1/2 year old son.

I bought this tank for my children's 3 goldfish. It seemed to be doing okay until one of the goldfish got caught in the very strong filter. It died, so I cleaned out the tank, and put the filter back in thinking it was a freak accident. The next day, a second fish got stuck on the suction part of the filter as well and died. I finally took the filter out to help the last goldfish survive, but I have very disappointed children.
